Normally, July is not a big knitting month for me. Instead I turn my attention to the Tour de France and the Tour de Fleece. I’ll be writing a post about that soon, but I do have a few knits going this month for when I’m not in front of the wheel.
The first knit is what I’m calling my Christmas in July socks. Every year I buy some beautiful holiday yarn and intend to knit myself some holiday-themed socks. Then in the rush of gift knitting I never get around to them and the yarn sits for another year. Not this time! This time I decided I was going to get a head start and knit my Christmas socks in July. I have a beautiful skein of Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stealer in Oh Christmas Tree and I decided that I wanted to use the Galiano socks by Tracie Millar. I’m almost done with the first sock, and I’m really enjoying this knit!
Next up on the needles is a sweater that I started for myself! As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I saw a really spectacular sleeveless version of the Pismo Beach Pullover by Amanda Schuezger and I was inspired to knit my own. I ordered some Katia Air Lux in Teal from Webs, and could barely finish things fast enough so I could cast on. I am really enjoying this knit as well. There are only two lace rows to memorize for the lace panels, so this is one I can just sit back and knit round and round on in the evenings. I’m sure I won’t finish it before the end of the month, but I’m hoping to make some good progress.
Life has been crazy these past few weeks, so there hasn’t been as much crafting as I would like, but hopefully I can share what I’ve been working on soon!
