NaKniSweMo 2016 in the books!

December 2, 2016 LauraLeave a comment

A month ago I shared with you my plans for NaKniSweMo 2016. As I suspected, my sweater didn’t end up being 50,000 stitches, but I did finish in time and I’m thrilled with the finished sweater! Just so the details are all in one place: The Pattern: Lady Marple by Nadia Cretin-Lechenne The Yarn: Spirit Trail Fiberworks Zalti in… Continue reading NaKniSweMo 2016 in the books!

About a month ago I was contacted by the folks over at Stitchcraft Marketing to see if I would be interested in knitting something with Louet Gems yarn.  Gems is Louet’s 100% Superwash Merino yarn that is both machine washable and dryable, making it a great choice for easy care knits. I had a choice of the… Continue reading Knit Me: Louet Gems Worsted

About a month ago I was contacted by the nice people over at Stitchcraft Marketing with an opportunity to review a skein of June Cashmere yarn.  June Cashmere works with farmers in Kyrgyzstan to ethically source cashmere. The fiber is then spun into yarn in Scotland and then dyed in rich jewel tones in Maine. June Cashmere offers… Continue reading Knit Me: June Cashmere, DK

Every year since 2010, I have participate in NaKniSweMo and this year is no exception. As I spoke about in earlier posts, this year some friends and I decided to go to Rhinebeck, which is the knitting lingo for the New York Sheep and Wool Festival held in the Rhinebeck valley the third weekend of each October. The festival itself was held on Saturday and Sunday, so my friends and… Continue reading Rhinebeck 2016

I saw this cute illustration on Instagram yesterday. Now if only there were a knitted sock or a garter stitch scarf in there, it would be perfect!   https://www.instagram.com/p/BK3cqYShIS9/?taken-by=lillarogers

August 31, 2016 Laura2 Comments

For years now I have wanted to go to Rhinebeck, or the New York Sheep & Wool festival held in the Rhinebeck Valley in New York in the fall.  Late last year Ana and (sadly blogless) Beth and I decided that 2016 was the year. In our flurry of preparations, we have each been talking… Continue reading Rhinebeck Sweater

Last week my husband and I took a week off and went to Colorado.  The real purpose was so that he could do the Run the Rockies Half Marathon Trail Run, but we planned a week full of sightseeing while he acclimated to the elevation. We started off in Colorado Springs.  The first day we… Continue reading Colorado 2016

Welcome!

Hi! I’m Laura. As a California girl transplanted to the Midwest, I fully embraced spinning and knitting to keep warm. My love of fiber arts has lead me to become a knitting tech editor, host of a weekly video podcast and a knitwear designer. My goal is to produce beautiful fiber projects and help other designers produce well-crafted patterns — free from errors!
