When I ordered my tumbler from Teavana, I received a free sample of their Maharaja Chai Oolong/Samurai Chai Maté and sugar. It looks like the tea without sugar is available for sale here.
Per the Teavana site, the tea is a blend of Maharaja Chai Oolong and Samurai Chai Maté and green teas. The tea is spiced with ginger, cinnamon, black peppercorns, cloves and nutmeg, and also includes pineapple, papaya and star anise.
The blend is available from the Teavana site for $18.96 for 4oz.
When I opened the package the first thing I smelled were the pungent spices, mostly cardamom, pepper and anise. Once brewed it almost smelled like a mulled wine or a spicy cider. It actually tasted a bit more mild than it smelled. It was sweet (this is probably due to the rock sugar) and definitely had the chai spices but was a bit lighter, which I attribute to the oolong tea. It had a nice finish – a little bit of the anise crept in. All in all, it was a really nice blend.
this sounds like a tea i would like!! and I love that the sugar is already in the tea blend!! i have never seen that before!
Those are a lot of flavors in one tea, maybe too many?
I liked it, but it was definitely a mouthful.
I am certain I have a reply for this.
I am certain that it would make me spew tea out my nose.
Nice article, I like original Maharaja Oolong chai , it taste better and has perfect amount of all the spices.
